The climate in the High Atlas Morocco varies greatly by season:

  • Spring (March to May):
Expect mild, pleasant days with temperatures generally ranging from 20°C to 25°C. Early spring might still be a bit chilly at higher altitudes, so a light jacket is advisable. Occasional showers may occur, so it’s wise to pack a waterproof layer.

  • Summer (June to August):
Daytime temperatures can be warm to hot, often reaching 30°C or more in lower areas, while mountain temperatures remain cooler. Evenings and nights in the higher regions can be noticeably cooler, so layering is recommended.

  • Autumn (September to November):
This season mirrors spring, with comfortable daytime temperatures (around 20°C to 25°C) and cooler evenings. Some rainfall is possible, and conditions at higher elevations may still be variable, so it’s best to be prepared.

  • Winter (December to February):
Winter conditions in the High Atlas can be cold, with frequent frost and occasional snowfall on the peaks. While valleys may enjoy relatively mild days, nights are generally very cold. It is essential to bring warm clothing, such as a fleece or down jacket, along with waterproof, windproof layers.

We always recommend checking the latest weather forecasts before your trek to ensure you pack appropriately for the conditions.

Some people experience altitude sickness when trekking at high elevations. To help prevent it, we advise ensuring proper acclimatisation, staying well hydrated, and pacing yourself during the ascent. We also recommend bringing a supply of headache tablets, re-hydration salts, and anti-diarrhoeal medication as a precaution.

If you experience any symptoms of altitude sickness, such as headaches, shortness of breath, fatigue, or nausea, please inform your guide immediately.
Our guides are trained to monitor your condition closely. They will assess the situation and, if necessary, slow the pace, allow extra time for acclimatisation, or even arrange a descent to a lower altitude to ensure your safety. Your well-being is our utmost priority, and we are here to support you every step of the way.
